Nutrition support through psychotherapy focuses on helping clients change their relationship with food and address underlying mental health factors such as stress, emotional eating or self-image that may impact your choices and behaviours. We also provide you with education on the mental health impact of deficiencies in various vitamins and minerals so you can understand the relationship between your nutrition and mental health.

No, psychotherapists are not able to create meal plans or prescribe any dietary changes to clients. We can work in collaboration with your Registered Dietician or Family Physician and support you with any mental or emotional barriers as you implement their recommended dietary changes.

While services provided by Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers are not covered by OHIP at this time, many extended health insurance plans do offer coverage for mental health services provided by either profession. Please refer to your plan details or contact your provider to find out which service providers are covered under your specific plan.
